Hike and Bike

The Greens Bayou Corridor offers numerous recreational activities, including an array of hike and bike trails that meander throughout the corridor, providing outdoor exercise and recreation opportunities for residents along the bayou.

With recreational development as a key goal, the Greens Bayou Corridor Coalition is working to develop more trails throughout the corridor.  In the West Reach, NRP Group has offered to donate land to develop a linear trail system along the bayou. And in the North Reach, plans are under way to expand the current trails system to connect soccer and skateboard facilities planned for the area.

The following list provides information about some of the trails currently traversing the corridor.

This one-mile trail runs along White Oak Bayou between Equador Street and Gulf Bank Road. The trail accommodates hikers, bicyclists, strollers, wheelchairs, and scooters and features well-placed safety railings. Surrounded mostly by a modest green belt near the bayou, the trail is graced by pine and oak trees and runs past an elementary school, ball fields and Clark Henry Park. The construction of this trail was a partnership between Harris County Precinct 4, the City of Jersey Village and the Harris County Flood Control District.

This 500-acre park is surrounded by more than seven miles of trails. The vast park includes spreads of old forest habitat along the bayou, large ponds and wetlands with several thousand trees, shrubs and wetland vegetation areas to be planted.

East Reach Trails

Halls Bayou Trail
Completed in 2009, the Halls Bayou Trail covers three miles from Hirsh Road (between Parker and Little York) to Bretshire Street along Halls Bayou and connects to Tidwell Park and Forest Brook High School. The trail is flanked by green space and large wooded areas, and it includes several bridges and undercrossings. Extensive flood control projects are planned along the bayou and in the future will provide opportunities to bring more trails to the area.
