East Reach
Includes: Kings Lake, Stonefield Manor, Fall Creek, Parkway
Committee Co-Chairs: Omar Escobar, LJA Engineering and Surveying
The East Reach of Greens Bayou spans from the Union Pacific Railroad, just east of US 59 to US 90, making up much of northeast Houston. The East Reach is largely comprised of residential development with a great deal of natural vegetation covering the watershed.
Greens Bayou Wetland Mitigation Bank is a major asset of the East Reach. This 1,400-acre wetland project combines wetland creation, floodwater management and natural stormwater runoff treatment through wetlands.
- The reach committee is working with El Dorado Utility District, First Love Community Church, Waste Management and other area stakeholders to create a trail along Garners Bayou from Atascocita Road to Williams Gully ending at Lindsay-Lyons Park. The trail will incorporate a wet bottom detention basin being planned by the utility district and the meditation garden and parking lot planned by the church.
- Community members have recommended a trail system connecting the Summerwood area to Greens Bayou south of Harris County Flood Control's mitigation bank.
- The reach committee is working with Parkway Utility District to create a trail connecting their community trail system and natural wetlands to the bayou.
