On September 4, Greens Bayou Coalition launched a new Bayou Restoration project--literally! Seventeen volunteers and two staff members launched canoes and kayaks from the Brock Adventure Park launch and cleaned 202 lbs. of floatable trash from Greens Bayou.

We were excited to partner with Galveston Bay Foundation for this cleanup project. Each organization rounded up some volunteers. Greens Bayou Coalition was thrilled to have a big contingent from TABS, a company that has volunteered with us before. Also joining us were the Haines family and one of our previous Regatta winners--Jeff Nunn! Along with the volunteers from Galveston Bay Foundation, we made a serious dent in the trash that had piled up along the edges of the bayou from the launch to the Ley Road bridge!
Our thanks to Galveston Bay Foundation for partnering with us on this Canoe Cleanup on Greens Bayou, and to TEXSAR for spending the morning on the water with us keeping our paddlers safe. We also extend our appreciation to H-E-B. An H-E-B Our Texas Our Future environmental grant sponsored the canoes for this cleanup.
And of course, Greens Bayou Coalition would be nothing without the amazing volunteers that come out to care for Our Bayou and our environment. Thank you!!
